TRIUMPH SPITFIRE 1500 RESTORATION

MECHANICAL ASSESSMENT
On initial inspection the car's general mechanical condition
backed up the indicated mileage of 85000 miles. However the
aim of the rebuild was to create a totally reliable car that
would pass an MOT year in and year out.
So the standard was set, the whole drivetrain, brakes and
engine were to be checked, dismantled if necessary and
rebuilt using new parts. This proved to be the correct course of action in many cases around the car as worn and broken
parts were discovered in abundance.
Luckily many parts had been replaced before my ownership
which kept the part parts bill a little lower. The rebuild also
included a conversion to an overdrive gearbox .
